Isokinetic testing
Objective strength measurement through the full range of motion, available in Canberra.
In isokinetic testing the lever arm moves at a preset fixed speed, letting the dynamometer measure torque throughout the range of motion. Manual muscle testing, by contrast, is static and captures only the strongest portion of the range.
The result is a measure of muscle performance across the movement, not strength at a single point. The resistance accommodates to pain, fatigue and changes in muscle leverage, which allows testing to be conducted safely.
Kwong uses isokinetic testing as one input into return-to-sport decisions after knee injuries.
